Shuttle Schedule:

On May 22, shuttles will run at 10:00, 13:15, 14:30, 17:20, 19:35, and 23:45. Drivers will meet participants in baggage claim.

On May 27, shuttles will leave from the front of The Inn at Virginia Tech at 08:20, 11:45, 14:30, and 17:45.

On May 28, shuttles will leave from the front of The Inn at Virginia Tech at 04:00, 06:45, 08:00, 10:45, 12:00, and 13:45.

If you provided your flight information, you should have been contacted about shuttle service.This schedule was based on provided flight information. If you need a different departure, please email hql2016@phys.vt.edu as soon as possible, and every effort will be made to accommodate you.

International participants please check with your local U.S. consulate or embassy regarding the type of travel documents/visa you will need to be allowed to enter the U.S.

The closest airport is The Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA) . Roanoke Regional Airport offers convenient connections through domestic and international gateways in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, and Charlotte.

Ground Transportation:
Ground transportation will be provided from the Roanoke Regional Airport to Blacksburg on the first and last days of the conference. You will be contacted prior to the program regarding your flight schedule and provided with a shuttle time. We will make every effort to accommodate your arrival time in Roanoke in a timely manner, however, please be aware that there may be significant waits due to varying arrival times and delayed flights.

  • Shuttle: $30 per person to Blacksburg.
  • Private Car: $72 per person to Blacksburg. Car will take passenger anywhere in Blacksburg.

Service is $4 per person to Blacksburg (exact change required). The bus operates Monday through Saturday (does not run on Sunday) at regularly scheduled times. Bus drops off on the Virginia Tech campus at the Squires Student Center stop. Visit the website for the exact route and times.

Driving Directions:

Directions from Interstate 81:
From I-81 take exit 118B onto U.S. 460 West. Follow the signs for Virginia Tech/Blacksburg. Continue on U.S. 460 for 8.5 miles to the Prices Fork Road exit for "Downtown". Turn right at the first traffic light on Prices Fork Road to enter the Inn at Virginia Tech.

Directions from Interstate 77 (northbound):
Take exit 32 onto I-81 North. Continue for about 29 miles and follow the directions above for interstate 81.

Directions from Interstate 77 (southbound):
In West Virginia take exit 9, "U.S. 460-Princeton/Pearisburg, VA". Turn left at the stoplight at the end of the ramp onto U.S. 460 East. Continue onto U.S. 460 East for about 44.9 miles (11.6 in W.VA., 33.3 in Virginia). Take the Toms Creek Road exit. Turn left onto Toms Creek Road. Turn right onto University City Boulevard at the first traffic light. Continue onto University City Boulevard for about 1.2 miles until reaching the Prices Fork intersection (second light on University City Boulevard). Go straight at the light.
